(Ages 6-9) Camp is a fantastic first step for children to experience the many joys and infinite beauty of the surrounding natural world. Campers will explore and learn about the Lowcountry environment, create arts and crafts, and play cooperative games within the comfort of one of the Charleston County Parks. This experience introduces kids to the wonders of being outside, and builds physical, social, and decision-making skills while providing recreational fun. Our programs are designed with the philosophy that physical and emotional safety has to be the base on which all fun and education can be achieved. Minimum enrollment required two weeks prior to the first day of camp.
Hands-on and experientially-based activities like catching and release a crab, turtle, or insect allow campers to gain a more personal view of nature. Campers will learn about some of the plants and wildlife in the Charleston area, and we'll offer weekly theme-based educational sessions with naturalists from Caw Caw Interpretive Center and other local programs.
Opportunities for adventure are endless! We'll go canoeing and/or pedal boating, bicycling, plus crabbing and/or fishing. Campers will splash around in Whirlin’ Waters, Splash Island, or Splash Zone waterparks, and take exploration treks around the park.
Arts & Crafts
Each week will feature new, interesting, and fun arts and crafts projects based on the weekly theme.
What's camp without games? Cooperative and fun games will encourage and promote positive self-image, social interactions, and exercise.
