Sun Exposure
Protect Your Skin
Avoidance of sun exposure especially during peak times of the day is helpful in reducing skin damage and cancer risk.
  • Wear tightly woven long sleeve clothing.
  • Wear wide-brimmed hats.
  • Use water-resistant sunscreen with a minimum of 30 SPF or greater and re-apply every 2 – 3 hours.
  • Use sunscreen even on cloudy days, as UV light can penetrate clouds and cause skin burning.

Protect Your Eyes
The UV rays in sunlight can also seriously damage the eyes. Eye protection should consist of good quality sunglasses in addition to shade and hats. Sunglasses should:

  • Screen out 75 - 95% of the visible light.
