For the Kids
Whether you’re looking to tire out your little ones or renew their sense of adventure and curiosity, Charleston County Parks have so much for the kiddos to explore. Let their imaginations and little feet run wild at one of our playgrounds, watch their jaw drop after spotting a unique bird, or let them cool off at one of our spray plays.
What's the perfect recipe for a great family beach trip? Sand, sun and lots of fun! And we've got plenty of it at our Charleston County Beach Parks. Marvel at the spot locals like to call 'The Edge of America' at Folly Beach County Park, splash all day in the surf at Isle of Palms County Park or take in all the natural beauty Kiawah Beachwalker Park has to offer!
Swing, climb and slide your way through one of our Charleston County Park playgrounds! You can take the stairs to the top of the 50-foot observation tower and play area or climb the 'rock wall' at the Big Toy Playground at Palmetto Islands County Park. Challenge your friends or family to swing as high as the trees at James Island County Park. Or spend all day sliding down the slides at one of two playgrounds at Wannamaker County Park in North Charleston.
Whether you've already got your ollie down or you just want to try a new sport, SK8 Charleston is the Lowcountry's premier skatepark. With over 32,000 square feet of space including two bowls, a street course and a 200+ foot long snake run; there's fun to be had for all ages and skillsets.
Never underestimate the joy of running through a sprinkler on a hot day. Splash all day at the Spray Play Fountain at James Island County Park or at the Sprinkler at Wannamaker County Park in North Charleston. Open seasonally; see park pages for schedules.
Beat the heat at one of our three Charleston County Waterparks! Enjoy adrenaline-pumping rides, like the Washout at Whirlin' Waters Adventure Waterpark in North Charleston, explore through the Rainforest at Splash Zone on James Island, or relax in the pool at Splash Island in Mount Pleasant. Open seasonally; see our waterparks page for hours and fees.
