Swim Lesson Scholarships

Scholarships for free swim lessons at West County Aquatic Center are offered through Charleston County Parks Foundation, the nonprofit partner of the Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission. The scholarships are available to create opportunity for those who need financial assistance to learn this lifesaving skill.

Eligibility

Annual household income level must be at or below 400% of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Poverty Guidelines.

Application Process

  • Submit your swim lesson scholarship application starting May 1.
  • Scholarship applications will be accepted May 1-15 and must be submitted online.
  • A limited number of scholarships are available; submitting an application does not guarantee you will receive a scholarship.
  • Recipients will be chosen lottery-style from among those who submit applications.
  • Swim lesson placement will be based on availability.
  • Notifications to scholarship recipients will begin the week of May 23.
