Plankton Powered
Friday, October 13, 2023
Join one of our experienced naturalists on a journey into the wild world of marine drifters. We'll sample a tidal creek with a net especially designed to trap tiny planktonic organisms, followed by an examination of our catch under microscopes. From plant-like, oxygen-giving diatoms to the active larvae of oysters and barnacles, we'll explore plankton in our local aquatic habitats, discuss their importance and conservation challenges, and learn how we can volunteer to help our community by surveying for harmful plankton blooms.
Ages 12 and up. A registered and paid chaperone is required for participants ages 15 and under.
