Corn Pone and Three Sisters Soup - Honoring the agricultural gifts and science of Native American and African Cultures
Join food historian, storyteller, and documentary filmmaker Julian Gooding to celebrate Native American Heritage Month through food history and storytelling. Participants will learn the agricultural science behind Three Sisters Soup and how to prepare this delicious dish followed by a tasting of soup and corn pone. We will examine the many foods originally cultivated by indigenous Americans and how they found a new home in Africa and returned centuries later as the foundation of African American cuisine in the south.
All ages are welcome. We are not able to accommodate food allergies in this program. Thanks to the generous support of the Charleston County Parks Foundation, this program is free to individuals who pre-register.
