As part of our ongoing efforts to improve accessibility and more fully meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), improvements were recently made at Isle of Palms County Park. There are now seven accessible car and four accessible van spots which are fully ADA compliant.
At the Park Center, improvements were made to the access ramp and stairs, bringing them up to current ADA standards. An updated handrail system was also put in place which will last longer and require less maintenance. These improvements may seem minor, but they can make a big difference for our customers with disabilities.
Accessibility and ADA compliance is important to us, and we invite people with disabilities to experience our programs, services, trails and facilities to discover how our 11,000+ acres of parkland can enrich their lives. We strive to go beyond compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) to provide opportunities for recreation, physical and emotional well-being, and peaceful respite.
