Mattese Lecque is a retired Major 0-4 with the United States Army Reserves and is also retired from the Department of Justice as an Executive Staff member. She holds a degree from the College of Allied Health Sciences as a Physician’s Assistant at MUSC and a Bachelors and Masters of Science from St. Joseph’s College in Standish, ME. Currently an active member of Saint Peter’s AME Church in North Charleston. She is the Chairperson of the Burke Foundation for Student Enrichment and Mentoring, a member of the Charleston Alumnae Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Mattese has served as Trustee Board Officer and Financial Secretary of the St. Peter’s Foundation, Treasurer of the North Charleston High School PTSA, Political and Social Action Chairperson, Vice-President of the Charleston Democratic Women, the YWCA Board of Trustees, the First Vice President of the Charleston County Democratic Party, and continues to work with the Liberty Hill Improvement Council. Mattese is married to James E. Lecque. She has four stepsons and 10 grandchildren. She is the mother of a deceased son who passed away in 2003 at the age of 37. She is currently a Community Outreach Specialist and independent contractor for Maximum Consultants LLC with the SCDOT I-526 Lowcountry Corridor West Project.
