Holiday Festival of Lights Accessibility
The Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission invites individuals with disabilities to experience the Holiday Festival of Lights at James Island County Park. Wheelchair Availability
The Holiday Festival of Lights is a three-mile driving tour with a self-guided walking portion to see more lights and other amenities. A wheelchair is available to check-out at the park center office free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. A photo ID is required as a deposit to check out. Accessible Parking
Accessible parking is primarily located in Lot A, the Park Center parking lot (the first parking lot you come to on the driving tour), allowing paved access to festival activities and amenities. Lot B has two accessible parking spots with an accessible route leading to festival activities and amenities. Accessible parking is not available in Lot C.
Accessible Paths/Trails
Guests may use the paved sidewalks around Park Center (Lot A) to access all activities and amenities. The Greeting Cards are located on an accessible surface. Some amenities and attractions (the Picnic Center area beyond the carousel as you head towards the climbing wall) are located on less accessible, gravel surfaces.
Accessible Restrooms
- A wheelchair-accessible restroom trailer is available near the Reindeer Workshop.
- Accessible restrooms are located on ground level outside Splash Zone (to the left of Park Center building) and on the upper level near the Park Office that is accessible via an outdoor ramp.
Accessible Train Car
A wheelchair-accessible train car for the Festival Express is available upon request. Guests may request this accommodation when purchasing tickets at the Train Depot.
