Folly Beach County Park

On the west end of the island, situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Folly River, beachgoers will find Folly Beach County Park. Skimmer Flats, a major Eastern Brown Pelican rookery, is visible at the west end of the park.

Pets must be leashed at all times. No pets are allowed on the beach during the hours of 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. from May 1 - September 30. See the City of Folly Beach regulations for more details.  

Folly Beach County Park has 225 parking spots and usually fills to capacity by 10:30 a.m. on the weekends and holidays, with spots becoming available again more consistently late-afternoon. When the parking lot is full, please look for City of Folly Beach parking lots on West Ashley Avenue to prevent the blocking of roads and driveways. Be aware of City of Folly Beach parking ordinances in order to avoid being towed or ticketed.


Park Hours

  • 8 a.m. - Sunset
  • Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day
  • Gate closes to incoming traffic 30 minutes before park closes.


Park Seasonal Amenities Schedule

  • Snack bar is open starting April 1. Hours may vary. Please call park office for more information.
  • Beach chair, umbrella, and boogie board rentals are available daily.

Gold pass members park for free year-round.

  • January & February: $5
  • March: $10
  • April: $15
  • May-Labor Day: $15 Monday-Friday and $25 Saturday-Sunday & holidays 
  • September (after Labor Day): $15 
  • October: $10
  • November & December: $5

Other

  • RV/Campers: $40 daily parking
  • Buses/Large Vehicles: $75
  • Walk-Ins/Bicyclists: free admission

Due to limited parking, visitors are encouraged to arrive early, carpool when possible, and expect delays when entering the park. Parking for buses, RV's and/or campers is never guaranteed. Due to the limited turning radius, we are unable to accommodate RV + bus traffic on weekends during our busy periods, April 1 - Labor Day. Groups using the Pelican Watch Pavilion are not permitted to bypass the line and must follow all traffic laws and directions from park management.

Chair/Umbrella/Boogie Board Rental Fees

  • Beach chair: $15 per day
  • Beach umbrella: $25 per day
  • Two chairs & one umbrella: $45 per day
  • Boogie board: $15 per day (+$25 deposit)
