Thank you for your interest in hosting a special event within the Charleston County Park system. On average, the Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission approves over 100 event applications a year. These events usually feature recreational activities and are typically hosted by non-profit organizations raising money for a cause. Please note that we typically do not approve for-profit event requests. Applicants should not advertise their event to the public until they have received approval of their event application.
Who needs to apply for approval?
Complete application if one or more of these conditions are true:
Events which invite the general public to attend
Events which will charge attendees admission/fees to attend or participate
Any recreational activity including, but not limited to, a run/walk, educational class, or fitness class
Events that expand beyond the footprint of a shelter (Ex. Multiple vendors, multiple inflatables, activities in adjacent meadows, etc.)
Event organizers who are not marketing to or inviting the general public
Events for a closed group that the general public cannot attend (family reunion, private fundraiser, wedding reception, end of season party for your soccer team, etc.)
Simply rent a shelter for any event that does not require an application.
We reserve the right to use photos or videos taken of visitors at our facilities or during our events and programs for publicity purposes. Always lock your vehicles and remove valuables from view, we are not responsible for lost, damaged or stolen property. Fees and hours are subject to change.
